Stonehenge Campaign
Latest: August 1999: creating this page
Date: Sun, 18 Oct 1998 06:47:34 -0700 (PDT) (StoneForm) I think that everyone who wishes to hold peaceful ceremonies should be allowed to, although they should have to give warnig to a council who appoints a local Druid to oversee the event...say 2 weeks warning should be fine, and, please forgive me for not already knowing this when I should, but who is it that stops us from being able to celebrate there?? The government? The OBOD?? Who? Just for your info, I am a practicing Red War Druid who has been learing for 22 years, taught by my grandmother and raised in South Carolina in the USA, and I so much want to return to my homeland (I'm 100 percent Irish, and feel that the States are not my home, nor where I belong at all, but I should be there with my family)and when I get there, teh first thing I want to do is celebrate in Stonehenge, as my ancestors did. I hope THEY read this part!! That is part of my familial and religious heritage, as I do not practice the new traditions, but I follow the Old Path, and I have alway! s been outraged at being told I can't even go near one of the most sacred spaces I have ever beheld! There was a question on the SC page asking which newsgroup should be
used for information. Was this specifically about pre-existing groups?
I can't think of a name for it at the moment, but why not create a
group in the uk.* hierarchy. Failing that, creating an alt.* group
should be easy enough.

Dear Sir,
just found your web site, brilliant.
Hoping you can help me, saw your info on various past events at the
Stonehenge Free Festival. I once had a copy of Battle OF The
Beanfield, the events of June 1985,but has since gone amiss amongst
friends. I am desperately trying to obtain a copy of this, if it is still
available, to show loved ones, who know nothing of this.
Many thanks

Thanks, - but I assume you have only heard part of the news. Only 60
druids etc with tickets were allowed in. The only great ones who lit our
path were police helicopters chasing us with searchlights.
Happy Solstice anyway,

Subject: I hope you'd like to join The Stone Circle webring
I've enjoyed viewing your Stonehenge Campaign website, and hope I can
interest you in our webring. It's called The Stone Circle, and features
sites related to Megaliths, Prehistoric Archaeology and related subjects.
Around 50 web sites are currently members, from well known sites like Stone
Pages and the megalithic webcam at Maes Howe to specialised archaeological
projects such as Virtual Barnhouse, a reconstruction of a Neolithic dwelling
in Orkney. We also cover the more esoteric side of these monuments, with
sites such as The Ley Hunter, At the Edge and Northern Earth. If you join
you will receive traffic as people browse round the webring to your site.
I hope very much you can find the time to join us. This is done by adding a
small section of HTML on one of your main pages. For more details visit the
ring homepage http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~aburnham/ring/, or read the
introduction below.
Alternatively a link to The Stone Circle home page to allow people to enter
the ring would be much appreciated. The link is
http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~aburnham Let me know and I will link back to
you.
While I'm writing I should say that we also have a discussion mailing list,
run by Chris Tweed. See below for more details. Ring and discussion list
members occasionally get together in person, recently we met up at the
Rollright Stones near Oxford, England.
All the best,

truth & reconciliation
************************************************
TRUTH & RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR STONEHENGE
************************************************
Issues of peoples' rights and responsibilities remain unresolved and
there has been a troubled history of
alienation and confrontation around this very ancient monument which is
a World Heritage site and continues
to resonate as a central point in the spiritual history and in the
regional consciousness of identity for people in
these islands. One only has to mention topics like The Stonehenge
Peoples' Free Festival, Religious Rights of
Druids and Pagans, The Stonehenge Exclusion Zone, or New Age Travellers,
to find oneself in a region of
seemingly irreconcilable controversy.
The Stonehenge Peace Process believes that a solution to the
problems of the Solstice celebrations can be
found in terms of a just compromise that recognises the legitimate
needs of all parties. This can only
happen if all parties take part in the process and if there is a
real spirit of reconciliation between them. The
Truth and Reconciliation Commission hopes to draw upon the experience
and vision that guided the builders
of the new South Africa by using a similar model in which
everyone, residents, Druids, police, travellers,
custodians, festival-goers and politicians and so on, are invited to
tell their story in a public forum and have it
recorded in a permanent archive. In order that the Process may be
full and free and fair it is essential that
the Commission itself is balanced and has representatives for all
the people and areas of expertise that
may be involved in this process. We propose to seek panel
members from these areas:
Police; The Churches; Pagans & Druids; Other faiths; The local
Community; Landowners; Academia; the
Media; The Law; festival-goers & travellers; Local
Government; the Peace Movement; National
Government; The M.O.D.; English Heritage & The National Trust.
Different prominent individuals from these fields may fill these posts
from time to time in practise, each acting
to focus the contributions their colleagues can make to the process.
Thomas Daffern, Director of the
International Institute of Peace Studies and Global Philosophy is the
instigator of the idea and has the
experience and commitment to lead the process through to
completion as Chair of the Commission.
George Firsoff, Secretary & instigator of the Stonehenge Peace
Process, will act as Co-ordinator and Vice-
Chair. Fundraising advice to pay for an Administrator, running costs
and for the expenses of witnesses
would be appreciated.
The 2nd meeting of the Commission will take place on Friday July 17,
1998, at Enford Village Hall, off Long
Street, Enford, Near Amesbury, Wiltshire (just off the A345) -
lasting from 2pm to 8.30pm. We will meet first
in the Enford Village pub (The Swan) from 12.30 onwards. The Commission
1st session will be meeting from
2-5pm, followed by a break for a picnic supper near to the Hall
(please bring food and drink to share) then
resuming from 6pm to 8.30pm. All who have an interest in the future and
history of Stonehenge, and who wish
to advance healing and reconciliation at this globally significant
sacred site are welcome to attend at any time
during the day's proceedings, to make statements, or to share ideas for
peacemaking and reconciliation.

Subject: travellers and police
Hi,
I am researching the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994) in
relation to police treatment of travellers. I have been all over the web and
attempted to contact Tash Lodge through his site, but his e-mail is no
longer working. I am looking to find people who are travelling or have
travelled in the last five years to talk to me about how the police have
treated them. I wonder if you could help at all?
Since the police trashed the travellers in '85 and access to Stonehenge has
been denied things have got progressively worse. The law has forbidden a
nomadic lifestyle in this country, but as people continue to travel I want
to highlight how the law makes their life harder and how the police use the
law. With the arrival of 'eco-warrriors' press attention and public debate
has shifted its attention away from the people whose whole livelihoods and
lifestyles are most affected by the Criminal Justice Act. I am trying to
consider the affect this has had on the travelling community and how it
continues to survive.
I am only asking that my name and number be given to people who would LIKE
to talk to me. I appreciate that researchers can be intrusive and I have no
intention of being such. I simply feel that the plight of the travellers
should be heard and highlighted. With no right to live on the road how can
anyone expect to ever get back to Stonehenge, both problems must be dealt
with in tandem, and soon.
I hope you can help me, please let me know,
yours, zoe.

Hi there anyone!
Don't know of this is the correct address to write to. Am
writing on
behalf of several Stonehenge pilgrims. What is happening this
year? Why
have I not heard anything about the walk? Are we doing two again
this year?
Brighton/London to Stonehenge? Is anyone still there? When is
the next
meeting at Torriano Av.? Where is Torriano Av? And many such
questions...!!!
Hope thats not too much. All I really need to know is meeting
time, and if
both walks are occuring. And do we have a support vehicle for
the Brighton
walk? Is Jez around? Is this email address something to do with
Willie?
Help!
Have been to website, but couldn't get the info there either...
Please reply, we would like to get involved again.

Date: Fri, 9 Jan 1998 20:54:46 +0000 To: [email protected] From: [email protected] (Cannabis Hemp Information Club) Subject: Jail for Mr Cannabis (friday) [-] ~~~ PRESS RELEASE: Friday 9th January 1998 ~~~ Mr Free Rob Cannabis of the Cannabis Hemp Infomation Club (CHIC), the Free Medical Marijuana Foundation (FMMF) and the proprietor of the Glastonbury Hemp shop "In Harmony With Nature", was today imprisoned for seven days to Horfield jail, (Gloucester Rd Bristol, 0117980-8100) for "wilfull non-payment" of £100 fine and £40 costs for the possesion of 1.57 grams of herbal cannabis. The Judges were not unsympathetic to Free Rob's cause but were obliged to follow statutory law. Here follows the statement as read out by Free Rob Cannabis before being sentenced this morning: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STATEMENT TO WELLS MAGISTRATES BY FREE ROB CANNABIS (Friday 9th January 1998) Last time I was here I was told that magistrates have to uphold the law. But when it comes to the prohibition of cannabis this law is based on lies. All I have done since the moment I was violently assaulted by a Brunel security guard last spring is tell the truth. And now I am due to be sent to prison for telling the truth and harming no one. Is this justice? No. This is control through fear. The state uses fear to control its subjects. Fear of arrest, fear of court, and fear of prison. I have no fear because I know the truth, the real reason that led to the worldwide prohibition of cannabis. Cannabis is a plant that has served humanity for thousands of years, providing us with our four basic needs of food, fibre, fuel and medicine. I cannot pay this fine as this would show my support for this physically and morally harmful law. Who is the victim of my crime? I have committed no offence because I have harmed no one. Prosecuting innocent people for the possession of a safe, benign natural herb is just a smokescreen for the real crime that is being committed; the rape and pillage of Mother Earth by multinational corporations whose only motivation appears to be greed. Why are we burning fossil fuel when we could be using eco-friendly ethanol made from cannabis? Why are we cutting down trees to make paper when we could be using the strongest natural fibre provider, cannabis? Why are we polluting our environment with all manner of toxic chemicals when we could all be living in total harmony with nature? Why? I'll tell you why, because governments are more concerned about protecting the vested interests of large multinational corporations rather than caring for the health and welfare of the people who they are supposed to represent. I am here to take a stand against the Babylonian State for I am deeply concerned about our environment and the health and welfare of my brothers and sisters. The last time I was here I suspected that you didn't want to send me to prison. Well I certainly don't hold it against you for my heart is overflowing with love and this I freely give. Not only that but by sentencing me to prison you will help raise over one thousand pounds for the FMMF (Free Medical Marijuana Foundation) This money will then be used to buy cannabis which will be freely distributed to medical users. So sentence and be praised. I love you all. One and All. Thank You.
